Priest showing donation box after theft.
The temples and religious places of the city are the target of the attacks. Recently, about a dozen temples have been charred. But, till date no one has been caught, nor have the goods been recovered. Cheers stole goods worth lakhs, including cash, from Baba Gaireshwarnath temple located at Makhan Sah Chowk of Nagar police station area late on Sunday night. Cheri came to know when the priest of the temple, Pt. Sudhir Jha reached to open the temple on Monday morning.
The items of the temple were scattered. It is suspected that thieves entered the temple from the broken roof and Hanuman ji’s silver crown, mace, 4 of silver and 2 pieces of sand, 2 silver claws of Ranisati Mata, umbrella, anklet, including the ancient idol of Radha-Krishna About 5 lakh items were taken. On information, the police of the city police station reached there and checked the CCTV. A suspicious person was seen in it, on the basis of which the thief is being identified.
This temple is in the middle of jewelery market, yet no security
The priests of the temple and the local people said that they were very disappointed with the frequent incidents of theft in the temples. This temple is located on the most prominent square of the city, despite the theft raises questions on the police. The chief priest’s son Sanjay Jha told that there is a jewelery market near the temple on one side and Baba Garibnath temple on the other side.
In this regard also, there should be security arrangements. But, police patrol is not seen after 10 pm. The guards of the jewelery shop remain. There was a guard next to the temple. On being asked, he said that he does not get money for the maintenance of the temple. There was also a slight scuffle between the guard and the local people regarding this.
Organizations said – now there will be movement
Religious organizations, which are constantly incensed in the temples, are preparing to march against the police administration. Prabhat Kumar, convener of Sahu Pekhar Puja Committee, said that if the police had remained tight, such incidents would not have happened. Pt. Harishankar Pathak of Purahit Mahasabha said that the religious places are constantly being harassed. If the police did not stop it, the movement would be taken on the road. On the other hand, Mahant Sanjay Ojha of Baba Sarveshwarnath temple said that lakhs were stolen in his temple, but till date neither the thief was caught nor the goods were recovered.
Four took away these ornaments from the temple: Hanuman ji’s silver crown, mace, four pieces of silver and two pieces of sand, two silver paws of Queen Sati Mata, umbrella, anklets etc. Cheri incidents have happened in these temples.
