The miscreant escaped with Rs 2.20 lakh after tricking an elderly man who had come to withdraw money from the Canara Bank branch on Neelam Bata Road. Police reached the information and checked the CCTV footage. In which he was wearing a mask. Police is investigating but the culprit has not been found. The elderly are retired employees of the Municipal Corporation. Kotwali police has registered a case.
According to the information, Ramchet (78), a resident of Green Valley, a resident of Sector 41, is retired from the Municipal Corporation. On Monday, he had come to the Canara Bank branch to withdraw money for work. When he was filling the form to withdraw money, a young man came to him and started helping him in filling the form. After this, he took them along and went to the counter. The old man thought that the young man was a bank worker. Because sometimes he would go to the manager’s room and sometimes he would sit on a chair. In the afternoon, Ramchet withdrew Rs 2.20 lakh. A young man was also standing near the counter. Before this, the young man had also taken the victim with him to the bathroom. When the victim turned back after withdrawing the money, the young man said, “Bring me a bundle of money and return it to you.” But instead of giving the money, the young man dodged and fled. When he did not return for a long time, the old man informed the bank worker. The banker called the police. When the police examined the CCTV footage, it was found that the youth was wearing a mask. Because of this his face is not visible. At present, the police have registered a case on the complaint of the victim.
