The work of laying the track between Kharwan-Chanda and Jaisamand, remaining in the Udaipur-Himmatnagar gauge conversion project, is now in the final stage. After that there will be electrification. The dream of traveling by train on Udaipur to Ahmedabad broad gauge line seems to be fulfilled in August itself.

At present, the railway is preparing to get the track between Udaipur Jaisamand inspected by the Commissioner of Railway Safety this month. The track from Dungarpur to Jaisamand was inspected by the Commissioner of Railway Safety in the past. Then the construction of about 22 km of track from Kharwa Chanda to Jaisamand was left incomplete in the project, which is almost complete now.

It is believed that by the last week of June or the first week of July, Railway Safety Commissioner can inspect the track. If all goes well, by August 2022, the train will be seen running from Udaipur to Ahmedabad broad gauge. At present, the operation of rail service between Dungarpur to Asarwa on Udaipur-Ahmedabad track has also started.

ARO Badri Prasad says that only construction work was left between Kharwachanda and Jaisamand due to Udaipur-Himmatnagar gauge conversion, which is now almost complete. The work related to the inspection of Kharwa Chanda Jaisamand track by the Commissioner of Railway Safety is expected to be completed soon.

We will connect to the South with 22 stations.
The second longest tunnel of the state is 821 meters long near Oda Pulia between Kharwa Chanda to Jaisamand. 22 stations have been built on the new track from Udaipur to Ahmedabad. After CRS inspection, the track will be tested by running a demo train. Earlier there was facility of meter gauge line from Udaipur to Himmatnagar. In the project, broad gauge track has been prepared in place of meter gauge from Udaipur to Himatnagar. There is already broad gauge line from Himatnagar to Ahmedabad, which will provide direct connectivity from Udaipur to Ahmedabad.
