CGST department collected Rs 3780 crore in 6 months

The Central Goods and Services Tax Department has collected Rs 3780 crore in the first six months of the current financial year 2022-23. The department has been given a target of Rs 8360 crore this year. GST department collection has also increased as the train of trade and industry is coming back on track after Corona. In September last year, the GST department had collected Rs 3340 crore.

According to the information received from the sources of GST department, the collection of GST is increasing across the country and continuous efforts are being made by the government to increase the tax collection. The collection of GST in the country has reached 1.5 lakh crore till October, while in Surat, the collection of GST has also reached 3780 crore rupees in the last six months. Which is 440 crore rupees higher than the month of September in the previous financial year. In the previous financial year, the department had recovered Rs 3340 crore till September.

Experts believe that after Corona, all other business industries including the textile industry, steel industry and real estate are climbing the tracks and new entrepreneurs are also starting business. Due to which GST revenue is increasing. It may be mentioned here that the department is active in preventing tax evasion. Continuous investigation is also going on to stop bogus billing and wrongly claiming ITC. During the tax evasion investigation of Rs 116 crore in the last six months, the officials of the department have speeded up.

A target of Rs 1160 crore more this year than the previous year

In the previous financial year 2021-22, the GST department was given a target of Rs 7200 crore. While against this, the target of Rs 1160 crore has been increased in the current financial year 2022-23. A target of Rs 8360 crore has been given for the current year. Against which the department has recovered 3780 crore rupees in six months.
