The company has taken this step as part of its initiatives related to diversity and inclusion. This new policy is effective from January 1, 2023. A father who has adopted a child along with the biological father can also take paternity leave of about three months under this policy. Let us tell that the number of employees of Pfizer Company in India is 5,500.

Holidays can be availed up to two years

Employees who become fathers under this policy will be able to avail this leave in two years. An employee taking paternity leave has to take a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of six weeks at a time. In case of any other confusion, employees may also take other leaves covered by the company’s leave policy, including casual leave, elective leave and wellness leave.

A new initiative for men to spend more time with their children

Shilpi Singh, Director – People Experience, Pfizer India said, “We believe that a progressive workplace is defined by practices that offer a people-first approach. The 12-week paternity leave policy will definitely help our male employees to enjoy these happy moments and spend more time with their child. This policy will help them to enjoy the most beautiful moments of parenthood. This progressive policy is our attempt to harness the power of equity in the workplace and enable both men and women to invest equal time as parents.”

Generally speaking, in most companies in India, men are given only 15 days of paternity leave on becoming a father and also a rule has been made that a man can take paternity leave only twice during his employment. In this situation, the announcement of this new policy by Pfizer India is being widely praised.
