Congress accused the state government, said - Discrepancy in central and state rape statistics, who is a liar?

Gandhinagar: The Congress has accused the government of discrepancies in the statistics of rape incidents in the state. The Congress has alleged that the two years of 2020 and 2021, which have recorded rape crimes, have presented fewer crimes in response to the question asked in the Lok Sabha. The figures presented in the Gujarat Assembly showed 3796 rapes and 61 gang rapes in the two years 2020 and 2021. Figures presented in the Lok Sabha showed 1075 rapes and 35 gang rapes in the two years 2020 and 2021.

Gujarat Pradesh Congress spokesperson Parthivarajsinh Kathwadia held a press conference and attacked the government, saying that the Centre’s rhetoric of ‘Beti Bachao’ and the Gujarat BJP government’s statistics of rape and gang rape presented in the Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha reveal shocking discrepancies. In response to a question asked in the Legislative Assembly of the state of Gujarat on 10 March 2022 by the home department of the state of Gujarat and the answer presented by the home minister Harsh Sanghvi, 3796 cases of rape and 61 cases of gang rape were reported in the state during the two years of 2020 and 2021. It was presented in the House of Assembly.

Discrepancy in Central and State Government response

On the other hand, in response to a question asked in the Lok Sabha on 20 December 2022, the Union Home Department and Home Minister Amit Shah presented the statistics of rape and gang rape recorded in the state of Gujarat. According to the statistics shown in the Lok Sabha, 1075 rapes and 35 gang rapes were reported in two years during the year 2020 and 2021. In Lok Sabha, 2721 cases of rape and 26 cases of gang rape were reported by the central government in the two years of 2020 and 2021. Thus, both the offenses have been shown to be lesser than the Gujarat Assembly.

Who is lying?

The discrepancy in the statistics of rape and gang rape in Gujarat in the Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha shows that either the central government or the Gujarat government is lying. When the BJP is running lies talking about a government of trust, where can the citizens of Gujarat and the country trust with false statistics? Let the BJP decide whether Gujarat State Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi has shown wrong figures in the Legislative Assembly or the country’s Home Minister Amit Bhai Shah has shown wrong figures in the Lok Sabha? Action should be taken against anyone who has given wrong figures from center and home department of Gujarat.

Demanded the liar’s resignation

A Home Minister who gives false figures in the Assembly or Lok Sabha on moral grounds should resign immediately. Be it Assembly or Lok Sabha, if false figures are shown, the citizens of the country will lose faith in democracy and trust in the government. What is the politics of hiding statistics? The people of Gujarat and the country want to know who is lying and who is telling the truth. Should the government explain whether the true figures are of the Legislative Assembly or the Lok Sabha?
