EU forced to swallow bitter pill of Modi-Putin bonhomie at UN; 'Respect India's stand' | Times Of Ahmedabad

The European Union, which has pressed India to take a stand against Russia amid the war in Ukraine, has now stated that it respects New Delhi’s position. Ugo Astuto, the European Union’s ambassador to India, made the statement in response to a question about New Delhi’s abstention from the UN vote. During the vote in the 193-member UNGA, 141 nations voted in favour of the resolution. While seven members voted against the resolution, 32 abstained, including India and China. The United Nations has approved the resolution calling on Russia to leave Ukraine. India batted for dialogue and diplomacy but said that New Delhi’s position is for it to decide, and countries should also take their own decisions. Watch this report for more.
