The U.S. is working on the “future of the battlefield” project that can change the face of war. The Pentagon is developing an autonomous multi-domain adaptive swarms-of-swarms (AMASS) system that will use thousands of disparate drones to attack in the air, on the ground, and in the water. The AMASS system will assign swarms through an optimization process that considers mission objectives, priorities, risks, resource availability, swarm capabilities, and timing.
