China has hit out at the US for shooting down the suspected spy balloon which it has described as an ‘errant civilian airship …that went off course.’ In a statement, the Chinese Foreign Ministry expressed strong dissatisfaction and warned of ‘necessary responses.’ The craft was brought down on Saturday after it drifted over North America for days, sparking a diplomatic crisis between the two superpowers.
