India’s chief of defence staff, General Anil Chauhan, has pitched for a self-reliant India. CDS Chauhan explained how the Russia-Ukraine war changed the face of the battlefield. Speaking at the Raisina Dialogue, General Chauhan spoke of lessons that Indian forces learned after analysing the ongoing conflict between Russia and West-backed Ukraine. Self-reliance in defence is one of the key priorities of India’s Modi government. Remember, India continues to import a major share of its weapons from other countries. India imported defence equipment worth Rs. 1.93 lakh crore in five years.
