Belagavi Cantonment Board CEO found dead days after CBI raid | India News

BELGAVI: Belagavi Cantonment Board’s (BCB) CEO K Anand, 40, was found dead at his government residence in the military camp area on Saturday morning. Anand, a native of Tamil Nadu and an officer of the Indian Defence Estate Service 2015 batch, had been serving in Belagavi for one and a half years.
The suspected suicide comes on the heels of a CBI raid on November 18 on the BCB office, which is under investigation in connection with alleged wrongdoings in the recruitment of 19 employees in 2021.

Belagavi City police commissioner SN Sidramappa said Anand was last seen Thursday evening. Police were alerted Saturday after he did not open the door for his househelps.

Cops found a bottle suspected to contain a poisonous substance near the body and two suicide notes. “In one letter, he confessed to his addiction to gambling and said he had taken loans and was unable to return them,” said Sidramappa. In the other to his parents, he apologised for not being able to take care of them.
