BJP to purify Telangana politics through development: Amit Shah | India News

HYDERABAD: Union home minister Amit Shah declared Sunday that politics in Telangana is tainted and promised BJP’s commitment to purify it through a development agenda. He addressed massive rallies in Makthal, Mulug, and Bhongir in the southern state, which votes a new assembly on November 30.
Shah highlighted the alleged failures of CM K Chandrasekhar Rao’s government, including incomplete projects like a hundred-bed hospital and a degree college, along with unfulfilled commitments to youth unemployment allowances. He criticised the government for not supporting weavers and fishermen, pledging BJP initiatives for their progress.
He reeled off the alleged scams tied to BRS — Mission Bhagiratha, passport, Rs 4,000 crore Miyapur land deal, Outer Ring Road, Rs 40,000-crore Kaleswaram project, Delhi liquor licence swindle, granite mining, the 2020 flood relief, and 2,200 crore Mission Kakatiya — and asked people to vote out the KCR government.
He emphasised that the upcoming elections are crucial for Telangana’s future and accused the BRS government of corruption and unfulfilled promises.
Shah cautioned against a Congress-BRS alliance, claiming they aim to make KCR the CM and Rahul Gandhi the PM. He assured that a BJP government would prioritise backward class leadership, provide vertical quota for the Madiga community, and offer free gas cylinders to poor women annually.
Shah accused BRS of instigating conflicts and scams, promising a thorough investigation into land scams. He pledged to revive the paper mill, reduce VAT on petrol and diesel, and address pollution in the Musi river.
“We will control pollution in the Musi. But people will have to decide to free Telangana from the pollution of K Chandrasekhar Rao’s corruption by voting for BJP,” Shah asserted.
At a public meeting in Yadadari-Bhuvanagiri district, he highlighted discrepancies in the Kaleswaram project and accused the BRS government of falsely claiming that PM Narendra Modi had not announced it as a national project. “I want to clarify that KCR never asked for any help from Modi,” he said.
Swiping at Congress, Shah criticised its historical stand on tribal representation, claiming that the party has consistently been anti-tribal. He contrasted this with the BJP’s commitment to social justice, pointing out the appointment of Droupadi Murmu, an Adivasi leader, as President of the nation and the party’s high number of tribal MPs and MLAs. In Mulugu, Shah outlined BJP’s promises for the region, including the commitment to grant land for the Sammakka-Sarakka Tribal University if elected.
In a related development, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan announced his intention to seek the support of BJP, if voted to office, to include backward class communities from Andhra Pradesh in the backward class list of Telangana.
