Bad timing dilutes purpose of Vijay Hazare Trophy
The Vijay Hazare Trophy, a premium domestic tournament, has taken a backseat to the Indian Premier League auction in recent years. The Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament has become the preferred choice for IPL scouting, leaving the Vijay Hazare Trophy with fewer international stars and contenders. The tournament’s timing has also affected its significance, as India has only nine ODIs before the Champions Trophy in February 2025. However, some believe the tournament still has value for young players to prove themselves and prepare for the future.
