Modi: PM Modi nudges mantris into poll mode, says ensure welfare projects reach all | India News

NEW DELHI: Nudging his council of ministers into poll mode months ahead of the upcoming 2024 general elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday directed them to fan out across the country and ensure that government schemes reach all targeted beneficiaries.
PM Narendra Modi also asked the ministers to inform the beneficiaries about who is running the scheme amid the Centre’s concerns of state and local governments appropriating them as their own programmes.
Chairing the meeting of the council of ministers, PM Narendra Modi also asked his colleagues to take part in the “Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra” and as an organiser and not as VIPs to ensure their success, sources told TOI. After the yatra across rural areas, the Centre on Tuesday started its second leg across all urban areas.
This programme aims to achieve 100% saturation by taking the benefits to the intended beneficiaries. Citing an example of how still a large section of beneficiaries can be covered, PM Narendra Modi asked the ministers to focus on increasing the coverage of Ayushman Bharat cards, a health insurance scheme by the Centre.
Sources said there has been a huge focus on ensuring the publicity materials and hoardings on government schemes put across the country have the logo and details of the central government so that people don’t get “deceived” and local governments take the credit.
PM Narendra Modi also asked the ministers to prepare themselves for the upcoming winter session that is scheduled to start next week and suggested that the answers given in both the houses are “informative”.
Union agriculture and information and broadcasting secretaries made presentations on the use of drones in agriculture and Viskshit Bharat Yatra.
