On Reds’ radar for pushing mining project: Maha mantri | India News

NAGPUR: Maharashtra cabinet minister and Gadchiroli MLA Dharmraobaba Atram said he’s on the radar of Maoists for his role in helping the mining project in the district. The senior NCP (Ajit faction) politician said recently the three civilians who were killed in Gadchiroli by Maoists were close to him. “It is akin to a warning from the Maoists,” he said.
On November 14, Maoists had killed Dinesh Gawde, followed by Lalsu Velda on November 23 and then Ramji Atram on November 24.Atram said, “All three were closely associated with me. Indirectly, the Maoists have sent a warning. Now that all those close to me are being killed one by one, the home department must take cognizance and protect me and the people.”
The minister said the Maoists are angry with him for providing assistance to the mining project.
“It’s about the mining work going on in our district and also the dispersal of protesters at Todgatta,” said Atram.
Last week the government had put an end to the anti-mining agitation in Gadchiroli’s Todgatta village, which had been going on for over 255 days. Atram added that Maoists wanted him to take a stance against the government action on protesters since he was the sole cabinet minister from the district.
