In his recent interview with Teach RetroAbhijeet talked about his blissful association with Shah Rukh Khan and also slammed those people who had called the superstar anti-national.
When Abhijeet was asked about why his association with SRK slow faded away, he refrained from talking about the controversies caused by his remarks against the superstar. However, he said that SRK is a self-made star and he resonates with the same kind of self-respect the superstar has in him.
“We both are Scorpio. My birthdate is October 30 while SRK is born on November 2. We are of similar nature. We are not filled with pride but we have our self-respect. Although we had personal differences between us, I tried to solve it a couple of times, but he is a very commercial person. He will use you, he will remove anyone from his path to success and flourishing career but it is very wrong for anyone to call him an anti-national. There is no greater nationalist than Shah Rukh Khan,” Abhijeet said.
Shah Rukh Khan’s fans want him to show ‘Dunki’ in stadiums instead of theatres and perform a stunt like ‘Tom Cruise did in ‘MI:7’; check out his reply
“Take a look at the movies that he has made, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Swades, Asoka. How can anyone say something like this about him? And that too when he has promoted Hindu culture the most in his movies. He is the biggest nationalist. It was because of some people who took our commercial differences to a different angle altogether and started calling him names. Among the Khans, Shah Rukh Khan is the only nationalist. Others don’t really have anything to do with the nation,” he concluded.
The collaboration between Abhijeet and Shah Rukh Khan began with the 1992 film Deewana, which marked Shah Rukh’s debut as a lead actor. The song Aisi Deewangi became an instant hit, and Abhijeet’s soulful rendition added to the film’s success. The duo continued their successful collaboration with chart-topping songs in films like Baadshah, Josh and Chalte Chalte.
In later years, Abhijeet made headlines for his candid comments and public spats, which included remarks about Shah Rukh Khan. These controversies led to a strain in their professional relationship, and Abhijeet’s association with Shah Rukh Khan’s films diminished.
