NEW DELHI: Australian coach Andre Borovec admitted that his team’s execution was poor following their 44-run defeat against India in the second T20I of the five-match series in Thiruvananthapuram.
“If you look at the bowling, there was a fine line with execution. We were not able to make inroads in the first six overs,” expressed Andre in a post-match presentation.
“In these conditions, the plans and intent are there, and you do not have to miss by an awful lot.We are making the right decisions but are not executing in the right moments,” Andre added.Opting to field first, Australia faced an onslaught from the Indian batsmen, with Yashasvi Jaiswal (53), Ruturaj Gaikwad (58), and Ishan Kishan (52) scoring half-centuries. The openers set the tone with a formidable 77-run partnership for the first wicket. Despite efforts from Nathan Ellis (3/45) and Marcus Stoinis (1/27), India posted a challenging total of 235/4.
In response, Australia’s batting struggled early on, reduced to 58/4. A promising 81-run partnership between Marcus Stoinis (45) and Tim David (37) briefly threatened India’s dominance.
