Almost 2,000 customers in Cary without power on Christmas Day

CARY, N.C. — A power outage in Cary on Christmas morning left almost 2,000 customers in the dark to open presents or celebrate holiday religious services.

With daylight streaming through the windows, a small crowd convened for an 11 a.m. Christmas service at Christ the King Lutheran Church on Walnut Street.

The outage covered an area of Cary from Chatham Street south to to SE Maynard Road, and from Kildaire Farm Road east to Walnut Street. It was first reported around 10 a.m., and Duke Energy expects to have the power restored by early afternoon.
