Army set to buy 10k hand-held thermal imagers | India News

NEW DELHI: The Army has now begun the hunt to induct around 10,000 new hand-held thermal imagers (HHTIs) for its troops deployed along the borders and other operational areas.
The Army has floated a RFI (request for information) for the procurement project to Indian vendors, which specifies that the HHTIs (uncooled) should enable soldiers to carry out surveillance and detection up to 3,000 metres during day and night in adverse weather conditions.
Weighing less than 3-kg, the HHTI should have a combination of high-resolution optical viewers, digital (low light) and thermal (uncooled) sensors as well as in-built satellite navigation systems, recording and transmitting capabilities, as per the RFI.
