Christmas music programme draws crowds to Mumbai's Chowpatty seafront | Mumbai News

MUMBAI: The Christian community gathered in strength to participate in the 58th Prabhu Yeshu Janmotsav musical held at Girgaum Chowpatty on December 10. Choirs from various churches performed at the event.
Organiser Abraham Mathai said, “Christian leaders across denominations like Cardinal Oswald Graciasbishops, pastors, as well as BJP spokesperson Shazia Ilmi joined us.Around 25,000 people attended. In line with the biblical norm of living together in peace and harmony, PYJ proclaimed the message of compassion, harmony and reconciliation.” The event was started 58 years ago by the lady governor Tara Cherian and is a December pre-Christmas highlight.
Among the choirs that participated were Highest Praise Church, Kandivli, United Basil Mission Church, Faith & Harmony Choir, Bandra, Crown of Life Church, Mira Road and Hosanna Church, Dharavi. Songs were performed in English, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil and Punjabi.
