City records 2 cadaver donations in 2 days; total for 2023 rises to 46 | Mumbai News
MUMBAI: On two consecutive days, the city witnessed two cadaver donations, taking the number of such donations this year so far to 46.
On December 7, the family of a 30-year-old Colaba resident, Akshay Gupta, donated his liver and kidneys to help three patients with end-stage organ failure.
A statement from Hinduja HospitalMahim, where Gupta was admitted, said he was brought in after he suddenly collapsed on December 6 with a complex brain injury.
On December 6, the family of a 20-year-old male donated his heart, liver, kidneys and bones at Apollo HospitalNerul. Since November 25, the city has witnessed seven cadaver donations and the tally is just short of last year’s total of 47.
