Gandhinagar: Wrapping up a 5-day tour of Japanchief minister Bhupendra Patel, accompanied by a high-level delegation, arrived in Singapore on Friday in connection with the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in January. Patel held meetings with finance and business executives and said that successful operations of Singaporean companies in the GIFT City is a key factor in growing Gujarat-Singapore ties.
Patel started his visit to Singapore by holding a meeting with Singapore trade and industry minister Gan Kim Yong.The CM also held meetings with Sopnendu Mohanty, chief technology officer, Monetary Authority of Singapore, and Prasoon Mukherjee, CEO, Singapore Business Federation (SBF).
The CM discussed bilateral trade between Singapore and India during this meeting with Yong. Patel said that Gujarat is emerging as India’s logistics hub due to its globally connected multiple locations and long coastline.
Yong said, “There is immense potential for growth in India which is why companies of Singapore are willing to work with the government of India.” He added that the collaboration with an efficient state like Gujarat would be beneficial for Singapore to make it a hub for fruits, vegetables, and dairy products in the Southeast Asia region.

Dr Sameer Arbat receives the APSR Assembly Education Award in Singapore
Interventional pulmonologist Dr Sameer Arbat of One Healthcare, Nagpur, India, has received the prestigious APSR Assembly Education Award 2023 at the APSR 2023 Congress in Singapore. The award, presented by Dr Woo Jin Kim of South Korea, recognizes Dr Arbat’s contributions in environmental & occupational health and epidemiology. His groundbreaking research focused on women in urban slums exposed to household air pollution (HAP) from burning solid fuels. The survey revealed a correlation between HAP exposure and symptoms like cough, breathing difficulty, itching of eyes, skin rash, and diseases such as Asthma and COPD. Dr Arbat expressed gratitude to Leena Buddhe from CFSD for collaborating on this research. The APSR Assembly aims to advance research on environmental and occupational health.
