Don't vent anger of defeat in Parliament, learn from it: PM Modi to opposition | India News

NEW DELHI: Lok Sabha was adjourned on Monday withing nine minutes of opening as Speaker About Birla objected to BSP member Danish Ali wearing placards on his chest in protest against BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri‘s “derogatory” remarks. As the House met, Birla first read out the obituary references to members who had passed away.
When Question Hour started, Ali raised the issue of his complaint against Bidhuri for allegedly making derogatory remarks against him in the last session.Ali had two placards hanging around his neck. One read, “Saansad ka apmaan, Sansad ka apmaan hai” (insult to an MP is an insult to Parliament) while the other said, “Punish Bidhuri, Save democracy”.

Lok Sabha adjourned after Opposition MP Danish Ali demands action against BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri

Parliamentary affairs minister Pralhad Joshi immediately brought it to the notice of the Speaker and requested him to ask Ali to remove them.
The Speaker told Ali that it was against Parliamentary rules to come to the House with placards and asked the BSP MP to immediately go out of the House.

However, Ali continued with his protest demanding action against Bidhuri.
PM: State poll results a boost for those working for common man
But, at least, do not turn this temple of democracy into a platform for expressing frustration. And I say this again, based on my long experience, change your approach a bit, leave the confrontational attitude aside just for the sake of opposition, and contribute positively for the country’s benefit, Modi said, an apparent reference to frequent disruptions in the House leading to adjournments, which take a toll on Parliament’s productivity.

He was greeted with chants of “Baar baar Modi sarkar, teesri baar Modi sarkar” by party members in Lok Sabha during the brief proceedings of the House before it was adjourned for an hour. The PM’s remarks on the inaugural day of new sessions have very often been cryptic, limited to appeals for cooperation for ensuring smooth conduct of proceedings.
A day after BJP’s success, he appeared to be relaxed and even joked with reporters about the late onset of winter. “It is not that cold yet. Winter is approaching slowly. But the political temperature has been rising,” he said, adding that results on Sunday were encouraging.
Modi again attacked what he called the “politics of negativity” while speaking in the evening at the Navy Day celebrations in Sindhudurg in Maharashtra. Urging lawmakers to debate shortcomings, the PM said the growing hatred in the country over certain issues might turn into love through such actions. “So, there is an opportunity, don’t let it slip away. The country has rejected negativity,” he added.
The PM said the assembly poll results were encouraging for those who were committed to the well-being of the common man, and who were dedicated to the bright future of the country, especially for women, youth, farmers and the poor, the four “castes” he has referred to in his recent speeches, seen as a counter to the opposition’s appeal for a caste census.
Modi said those who follow the principles of empowering these four important “castes” and ensuring their bright future and last mile delivery of concrete plans received strong support. “When there is good governance and consistent support for public welfare, the term ‘anti-incumbency’ becomes irrelevant. Some may call it pro-incumbency, good governance, transparency, national interest, or solid plans for public welfare, but this has been the experience that we have been witnessing consistently. And today we are meeting in this new temple of the Parliament after such an excellent public mandate,” he said.
He also said that there might be shortcomings in the new Parliament building and urged everyone to point them out, adding that the Vice-President and speaker were fully vigilant towards these things.
