Foetus found abandoned in hospital dustbin: Cops get leads | Mumbai News

MUMBAI: The Sion police on Saturday said that they have obtained fresh leads in the investigation wherein a female foetus was found in a dustbin of Lokmanya Tilak Hospital on Friday.
Police said that the leads were obtained while scanning the CCTV footage. Police claim that they will soon be able to nab the person who abandoned the foetus.
The police have registered an offence under the Indian Penal Code section 317 (exposure and abandonment of infants) against an unidentified woman.
According to the police, the doctors conducted the post-mortem on the foetus on Saturday but have reserved their opinion, awaiting chemical analysis reports.
On Friday, a sanitation worker at the Lokmanya Tilak Hospital while cleaning the vicinity found the foetus wrapped in a black plastic bag in the dustbin.
She immediately alerted the hospital authorities who in turn informed the Sion police station.
According to the initial investigation, the foetus was examined by the doctors and who declared the newborn dead. The doctors alerted the police.
