Gokhale girder launch starts tonight; train services hit | Mumbai News


MUMBAI: The BMC will start launching the girder of Andheri’s Gokhale bridge in the wee hours of December 3 because of which late-night suburban services will be affected on Saturday night.
The last train from Churchgate for Virar will depart at 11.52 pm, for Borivli it will leave at 11.58 pm on December 2. For Bandra, the last train from Churchgate will leave at 1 am on December 3.The last trains from Virar and Borivli will leave at 11.49 pm (December 2) and 12.10 am (December 3), respectively. The last train for Goregaon will depart at 12.50 am (December 3) from Virar.
The trial run for launching of the completed first phase open web girder was completed successfully between November 30 and December 1, said a BMC official. In case of Gokhale bridge, the 90 metres girder over the railway tracks being launched is the second largest after Vidyavihar ROB.
