Ahmedabad: The education department chose 384 teachers to inspect schools ahead of the annual Gunotsav in which schools are accredited. The Rashtriya Shaikshik Sangh, a teachers’ association, has written to the education minister requesting him to get an approval for these teachers from the School Management Committee (SMC) and then only assign them the inspection task.
The association said if so many teachers are assigned to accreditation duty, which is non-academic, students’ education will get negatively impacted.The schools are also facing acute shortage of teachers, the body said. tnn

Teachers in Bihar oppose education department’s directive to impose school culture in higher education institutions. Federation of University Teachers Associations of Bihar (FUTAB) urges vice-chancellors not to abide by the directive. FUTAB threatens to paralyze universities and colleges if order is not withdrawn. Education department asks VCs to ensure teachers conduct at least five classes daily or face salary deduction. FUTAB points out lack of clear concept in academic functioning and adherence to university statutes.
Four drunk TN school students abuse teachers and headmaster
Four students of a government higher secondary school in Tamil Nadus Villupuram district were arrested on charges of creating a ruckus under the influence of alcohol, abusing teachers and headmaster and damaging school properties. Police produced a student before a local court, while the three other students were presented before a juvenile justice board. They consumed liquor, interrupted classes, issued death threats, and damaged the school gate and furniture. The headmaster complained to the police, leading to the arrest. PMK founder S Ramadoss demanded total prohibition in the state.
