IMPHAL: Manipur police rescued a 22-year-old student identified as Laishram Chinglen Singh on Saturday and arrested eight suspected cadres of a militant outfit for abducting him for ransom from the hostel of DM College of Science in Imphal on Friday afternoon reports, K Sarojkumar Sharma.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the abductors were associated with the Imphal valley-based militant group Kangleipak Communist Partya police officer said.The rescue mission was initiated following a complaint at 1am on Saturday. The abductors had demanded a ransom of Rs 15 lakh, threatening to kill the student if the demand was not met. A cache of arms and munition were confiscated from the suspects, including an AK-47 rifle and a samurai sword.
