Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and a Gujarat delegation concluded their visit to Singapore with a tour of Micron’s assembly and testing plant on Saturday morning. The visit included detailed briefings from Micron’s senior officials about the manufacturing process.
Micron is in the process of establishing a semiconductor production plant in Sanand.
During the visit, the CM highlighted Gujarat’s unique position as the only state in India with an independent semiconductor policy. The focus on semiconductors aligns with the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit-2024, themed ‘Gateway to the Future’. The summit places a particular emphasis on emerging sectors, including semiconductors, green hydrogen, and e-mobility.
The delegation, which included chief secretary Raj Kumar, additional chief secretary to the CM Pankaj Joshi, additional chief secretary (industries) S J Haider, and other high-ranking officials, also engaged in the discussions.

Semiconductor Mission: Gujarat aims to create over 2 lakh jobs in 5 years
Gujarat, the first state in India, has introduced distinct policies for electronics manufacturing and semiconductor manufacturing, aligning with the India Semiconductor Mission. The Gujarat semiconductor policy aims to generate over 200,000 employment opportunities in the next five years, with Micron Technologies entering the state. The Gujarat government has organized delegation visits and roadshows, attracting interest from companies in Japan, South Korea, New Delhi, and Bengaluru. Companies have expressed interest in research and development, assembly testing, packaging, manufacturing of critical components, and setting up engineering/technology centers in Gujarat. This strategic focus will elevate India’s economic position.
