MUMBAI: After giving a two-day ultimatum to over 17 lakh motorists that hadn’t paid up pending e-challan fines, Mumbai Traffic Police managed to recover a sum of Rs 14.92 crore.
The traffic police had put out a statement on Thursday that all those who hadn’t paid up pending fines should either do so by Saturday or remain present at the Lok Adalat on Saturday.Notices were sent to over 17 lakh motorists through the District Services Legal Authority. Fines could be paid online on the Mumtrafficapp or the nearest traffic police chowky.
Those who did not pay up on receiving notices remained present at the Lok Adalat on Saturday. Police said 850 people paid up Rs 28.21 lakh in pending fines after Lok Adalat hearings.
