Mumbai traffic police issue notices to 17.10 lakh motorists for pending e-challans | Mumbai News

MUMBAI: The Mumbai Traffic Policethrough the District Services Legal Authority, have sent out notices to 17.10 lakh motorists, urging them to pay up pending e-challan fines.
In a statement put out on Thursday, police said that those who do not pay fines should remain present at the Lok Adalat on Saturday. “And those who continue to not pay fines will face legal action through court proceedings,” the statement said.
Officials said challans had already been sent via text message to offenders. All vehicle owners that have been challaned can pay up fines online on the Mumtrafficapp or the nearest traffic police chowky.
Between 2019 and 2023, Mumbai Traffic Police have collected Rs 579.9 crore towards e-challan fines.
But in the same period, Rs 685 crores remains pending and the traffic department has been pulling out all stops to recover dues.
