NEW DELHI: Kerala accounted for the highest arrests in cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) in 2022as reported by various drug law enforcement agencies, the home ministry told the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
As many as 29,257 or 23% of the total 1.26 lakh arrests made countrywide under NDPS last year, were in Kerala, junior home minister Nityanand Rai said in reply to an unstarred question.Punjab, which incidentally is believed to be the worst affected by the drugs menace, reported the second highestNDPS arrests at 16,831, followed by 11,400 such arrests in Maharashtra, 10,732 in UP, 6,884 in Karnataka, 6,082 in Madhya Pradesh and 5,025 in Haryana.
