Fernandes is accused of running a child trafficking racket and has multiple offenses. The police wrote to the BMC against her illegal sonography centre. Trombay police rescued two newborns sold for Rs 5 lakh in Govandi and arrested Fernandes and others.
Train runs over 3 jumbos in Buxa Tiger Reserve
Three elephants were killed by a speeding goods train in the Buxa Tiger Reserve. The train was traveling from Guwahati to Siliguri when it hit an adult female elephant and two calves. The impact flung the female and one calf off the track, while the second calf was ripped apart. The incident led to the suspension of train movement between Alipurduar and Siliguri. Forest workers, including deputy field director Praveen Kaswan, arrived at the scene to assess the situation.
