Vicky Kaushal starrer ‘Sam Bahadur‘ has hit the marquee along with Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Animal‘. Ever since the release dates of both these movies were announced, there were bound to be comparisons. However, just a few days prior to the release – it was quite evident that one cannot compare these two – owing to the number of screens they released and of course, the advance bookings! The way these films were made and meant to be conceived by people – also saw a huge difference.
While ‘Animal’ made a whopping Rs 63 crore in all languages on Friday, ‘Sam Bahadur’ earned Rs 6.42 crore on Day 1.Meanwhile on Saturday, the film has seen a good growth, despite the fact that it faced competition from ‘Animal’. The film saw a growth of around Rs 3 crore and Day 2 business of ‘Sam Bahadur’ is Rs 9.25 Cr India nett according to Sacnilk. With that, the film’s total collection stands at Rs 15.50 crore in two days. This means ‘Sam Bahadur’ almost saw a growth of 50 percent on Day 2.
If this trend continues even on Sunday, ‘Sam Bahadur’ will be in for a very decent weekend. The film released in only 1500-2000 screens as compared to ‘Animal’ which released in 4500-5000. As ETimes had reported, there’s also a difference in the ticket prices of both these movies. The ticket price of ‘Animal’ is higher than that of ‘Sam Bahadur’ due to the high demand of the film.
With positive word of mouth, the film must continue to hold well on Sunday and the coming days ahead. But again, the buzz around ‘Animal’ is just increasing by the day, and the controversies on social media surrounding the film is acting as negative publicity and almost adding to the film’s collections further due to curiousity among the audience.
