MUZAFFARNAGAR: A seemingly innocuous religious greeting has sparked a heated controversy, leading to the dismissal of a teacher at Saiema Mansoor Public School in Parsara, Hathras district. The trouble began on Thursday afternoon, when a Class XI student alleged that his teacher, Mohammad Adnan, did not reciprocate his ‘Ram Ram’ greeting and, instead, reprimanded him for the gesture.
The incident quickly snowballed into a community-wide uproar, with members of a right-wing group converging on the school gates on Saturday morning and reciting Hanuman Chalisa in protest.Amid the chaos, the school principal sacked Adnan, and issued an apology on his behalf while promising “measures to prevent such incidents in the future”.
