It’s tradition for most retailers and many restaurants to be closed on Christmas Day. There are a few exceptions, however, if you find yourself in need of some last-minute holiday items.
The poll, conducted by One Poll on behalf of Punchbowl, found 39% of respondents have stopped to purchase a gift on Christmas day on their way to see families.
And, according to a recent survey, some people do wait until Christmas day to pick up at least one gift.
Here’s a list of places that are open on Christmas day (Dec. 25, 2023). Some hours may vary so it’s always best to check ahead with your location. Here’s a look at some major retailers who are open on Christmas Day:
Coffee shops
Dunkin – Most locations open, check schedule
Starbucks – Most locations open, check ahead
Drug stores
CVS – Open, some on reduced hours. Some in-store pharmacies will be closed.
Rite Aid – Stores open, schedules will vary
Walgreens – Most locations open, some with reduced hours.
Restaurants
Denny’s – Open
IHOP – Open, hours vary by location
McDonald’s – Some McDonald’s locations will be open, hours will vary
Waffle House – Open
