Megastar Amitabh Bachchan was honored with the Lata Dinanath Mangeshkar Award on Wednesday. Amitabh arrived with son Abhishek Bachchan at the award function held at Dinanath Mangeshkar Theater in Mumbai. Here Big B was honored for his extraordinary contribution to Indian cinema.

Singer Usha Mangeshkar, the third eldest sister of the Mangeshkar siblings, gave this honor to Amitabh in the event. Earlier, singer Asha Bhosle was supposed to present this award to Amitabh but due to her ill health, she could not attend the event. Musician AR Rahman was given the Master Dinanath Award and actor Randeep Hooda was given a special award at the award ceremony. Actress Padmini Kolhapure was also felicitated.

Said, ‘His love and feelings were different’
On this occasion, Amitabh also recited a Marathi poem remembering Lata Mangeshkar as Mata Saraswati. Big B said- ‘Whenever I met Lataji or whenever she met my family, her love and affection was something different’.

Sharing the story of 1981 at the event, Amitabh said that it was because of Lataji that he got the opportunity to perform in international shows. The actor said that at a show held in New York, Lataji gave him an opportunity to sing the song ‘Mere Angane Mein..’ from the film ‘Lavaris’ on stage.

After Lata Mangeshkar’s death in February 2022, the family and trust established the Lata Dinanath Mangeshkar Award in her memory. In 2022, this honor was conferred for the first time on PM Narendra Modi.
