Time magazine on Wednesday released its list of the 100 most influential people in the world for 2024. Among them are actress Alia Bhatt, wrestler Sakshi Malik, World Bank Chairman Ajay Banga, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and actor-director Dev Patel.
The list also includes Jigar Shah, director of the US Energy Loan Program Office, Priyanvada Natarajan, professor of astronomy and physics at Yale University. Apart from this, Indian-origin restaurant owner Asma Khan and Yulia Navalnaya, wife of the late Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, have also been named.
World Bank President Ajay Banga was born in Pune, did his MBA from Ahmedabad
Indian-origin Ajay Banga took charge as the President of the World Bank on June 2 last year. He also became the first black person to chair two global financial institutions, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
On May 3, 63-year-old Ajay Banga was elected by the World Bank’s executive directors as its 14th president. His tenure will be 5 years. Banga is the first Indian-American to chair the World Bank. He will replace David Malpass, who decided to resign in February.
Ajay Banga was born on 10 November 1959 in Pune. His father Harbhajan Singh Banga was a Lieutenant General in the Indian Army. He did his schooling from Jalandhar and Shimla, graduation from DU and MBA from IIM Ahmedabad. In 2016, the Government of India also honored him with the Padma Shri.
Ajay Banga has been described in Time magazine as having connected millions of people outside the banking system to the digital economy. At the World Bank, Ajay presented a new vision for a poverty-free world and took bold steps to make it a better place. For this he has used multilateral development banks and the private sector as a tool.
Alia Bhatt was born into a filmy family, giving 12 hits in her 12 year career.

Time magazine has named Indian wrestler Sakshi Malik as an influential figure in its list of icons. Sakshi campaigned against Brijbhushan Singh against sexual exploitation in wrestling. 54-year-old Satya Nadella is the chairman of the world’s leading tech company Microsoft. Satya Nadella, born on 19 August 1967 in Hyderabad, became the CEO of Microsoft in February 2014. He has done engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology. Nadella started at Microsoft in 1992 as a Windows NT operating system developer. Satya Nadella’s net worth is $2,527 billion.

Dev Patel found Slum Dog Millionaire at the age of 18, later became a director
In 2008, Dev Patel rose to international fame with Danny Boyle’s film Slum Dog Millionaire. The film has won 8 Oscar awards. Apart from Dev, the film also featured Freida Pinto and Anil Kapoor. Dev received an Oscar nomination for the 2016 film Lion.

Dev Patel has made his directorial debut with the film ‘Monkey Man’. The film was released worldwide on 5 April. However, it could not be released in India. His film has been mentioned in Time magazine. In the magazine, Hollywood actor Daniel Kaluuya said about Dev that his acting level in Monkey Man is very high.
