Ankita revealed that, before working on the film, she had a basic understanding of Veer Savarkar’s contributions to the Indian freedom struggle.However, the project opened her eyes to the depth and breadth of his influence. “I knew the basics of his contributions to the freedom struggle, but working on this film revealed so much more. I was particularly surprised by his early literary works and his profound influence on the youth of that era. His writings and ideas were way ahead of his time, and they inspired a generation of young freedom fighters. It was truly enlightening to uncover these aspects of his life,” the actress shared.
During the conversation, the actress also addressed the controversy surrounding the film, which some have labeled as propaganda, Ankita maintained a balanced perspective. She acknowledged that art is subjective and that everyone is entitled to their opinion. “Art is often subject to interpretation, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Constructive criticisms are always welcome,” she mentioned.
“As artists and filmmakers, our goal has always been to present a balanced and truthful portrayal of the character’s life. Randeep had done tons of research before he penned the film,” said Ankita highlighting that a thorough approach was crucial in ensuring that the film honored Savarkar’s legacy responsibly.
Further, now the movie is also releasing in Marathi, which holds a special significance for Ankita. As a proud Maharashtrian, she expressed her excitement and said, “I am happy that our film is releasing in my mother tongue on ZEE5. I hope this film brings you closer to our rich history and the remarkable life of Veer Savarkar.”
