Baazigar 2 with Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar |

The iconic director duo Abbas-Mustan, who helmed the 1993 film ‘Baazigar,’ have recently hinted at the possibility of a sequelBaazigar 2.’ Starring Shah Rukh Khan in a career-defining role, the original film remains a milestone in Bollywood history. Fans were thrilled when Abbas-Mustan expressed their interest in reviving the thriller, this time potentially including another Bollywood titan, Akshay Kumaralongside Shah Rukh Khan.
During a recent podcast, Abbas-Mustan discussed the possibility of Baazigar 2. When prompted by a fan during the interaction, the directors confirmed their interest, saying, “Zaroor banayenge” (we’ll make it). Further, a fan cleverly pointed out that both SRK and Akshay Kumar, who earned the monikers ‘Badshah’ and ‘Khiladi’ respectively, owe much of their acclaim to their films with Abbas-Mustan. The suggestion to unite them in a sequel was met with enthusiasm, with Mustan humorously responding, “Aapke paas kahani hai toh dijiye. Zaroor banayenge” (If you have a story, please give. We’ll make it).

A particularly memorable aspect of Baazigar was Shah Rukh Khan’s performance in the film’s title song, where he donned a mask and black cape, reminiscent of the legendary Zorro, and rode a horse. Interestingly, during the podcast, the directors revealed a lesser-known fact: the horse-riding scenes were actually performed by a body double due to SRK’s well-known fear of horses. Mustan elaborated, “He was wearing a robe, a hat, and a mask on his face, and his eyes were covered. The horse riding was done by the horse owner, a body double.” This creative solution ensured that the iconic scenes were safely executed while maintaining the film’s thrilling essence.

‘Baazigar’ marked Shah Rukh Khan’s first role as an anti-hero, showcasing his ability to take on complex characters and proving his versatility as an actor. Over the years, his willingness to take bold risks has paid off, establishing him as one of Bollywood’s most respected and beloved figures. Bringing Akshay Kumar into the fold for a Baazigar sequel could create an exciting dynamic, merging their star power and delivering a cinematic experience fans have long awaited.
