Earlier this week, Esha Gupta travelled from Madrid to Delhi to cast her vote in Delhi today. The actress, who is from the capital, tells us that she has travelled to the city for Lok Sabha elections earlier as well. “Ever since I turned 18, I have voted only from Delhi. I don’t know why I never bothered changing my address to Mumbai. Delhi is home. It is also out of habit…it is like a ritual for all of us (her family) to go together to cast our vote. We come back, eat together, discuss politics,” shares Esha.
The actress, who is flying out of the country tonight, adds that she did not want to miss casting her vote. “I truly feel it is really important, you can’t complain if you are not doing anything about it. Ever since I landed in Delhi earlier this week, politics is the only thing we have been discussing amongst friends and family,” she tells us.
Remembering the first time when she got her voter ID, Esha shares that she called her friends on the landline to share the news. “I was so excited and there was no social media back then. I remember calling my friends and we were so excited because we could go and vote. It will always be special. Initially, it was exciting because it was more about going with our parents and their opinion and what you see or hear around you. Then it comes to a point when we think we are woke, and humein sab pata hai but you are not mature
enough. As you start learning and reading more. Politics has always been a discussion in our family. I think it is so amazing that we can have that discussion in the family. So, I’d like to tell everyone to please go and cast your vote today,” stresses the actress.
