Manoj Bajpayee is back with yet another rustic story with ‘Bhaiyya Ji‘, wherein he essays the titular role. The film hit the screens on Friday, May 24 and opened to a decent score. ‘Bhaiyya Ji’ recorded an overall occupancy of 9.45 percent and earned Rs 1.3 crore on its opening day, reports Sacnilk. The film started on a slow note but picked up pace for the night shows.
Manoj Bajpayee’s ‘Bhaiyya Ji’ faced some competition from previous release ‘Srikanth’, which stars Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor.The film has earned Rs 32 crore till now. Directed by Apoorv Singh Karki, ‘Bhaiyya Ji’ narrates the story of a former criminal who sets out to avenge his younger brother’s murder over a petty argument.
Interestingly, ‘Bhaiyya Ji’ marks Manoj Bajpayee’s debut as a producer, alongside wife Shabana Raza. Speaking about the venture, the actor had previously told PTI, “I am thrilled to step into the world of Bhaiyaaji. It will be a raw and intense character that I am excited to bring to life. A thorough mainstream entertainer that Bhaiyaaji is, it made me decide to collaborate with Apoorv Singh Karki who directed Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai and become the producer for this one along with the lovely team.”
