NEW DELHI: Czech Republic is expected to soon decide whether it will extradite to US Indian national Nikhil Guptawho has been indicted by US authorities for his role in the foiled attempt to assassinate Khalistan separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.
Gupta was detained in Prague in June last year and has remained in a prison there since then. A Reuters report from Prague said that the Czech Constitutional Court had ruled in favour of his extradition to US.However, the final decision will be taken by Czech justice ministry. Czech Republic has an extradition treaty with US and has agreed to such requests from Washington in the past. Gupta has been accused of working for an Indian official in facilitating the Pannun murder-for-hire plot. US had shared information related to involvement of the official with India, after which India formed a committee to probe the case. No information has yet been shared by govt about the outcome.
