Searches in J&K’s Samba after ‘suspicious movement’ intel | India News


JAMMU: Police carried out searches in many villages along the international border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district on Friday following inputs about suspicious movement in a forward area, officials said.
The search party — comprising personnel from Special Operations Group of Samba Police and local police — was led by Gharu Ram Bhardwaj, DySP, SOG Samba. It conducted door-to-door verification in the border belt of Malani, Bein Nallah and surrounding areas under the jurisdiction of Ghagwal police station, besides checking identification documents of people living close to the border at security checkpoints set up along border roads.Drones were also deployed for surveillance.
The operation, conducted as a precautionary measure, commenced around 7.30am in Bein-Lalachak forward area along the international border and covered many villages — Manguchek, Sadechek, Regal, Chahwal — before ending around 10am without tracing any suspicious activity or individual, said an official.
Earlier on May 19, security forces had launched a massive search operation following inputs from a Special Police Officer (SPO) about the movement of three terror suspects in Tarnah Nallah near Jangichak in Kathua’s Hiranagar sector along the international border. Before that, massive searches were carried out in Kathua’s Jakhole-Juthana forest area after some villagers spotted five to six heavily armed men seeking food from a woman villager late in the night on May 13.
