NEW DELHI: South Delhi constituency, along with six other Lok Sabha constituencies in Delhi, will vote in the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections on May 25. The results for the South Delhi constituency will be announced on June 4.
The South Delhi Lok Sabha constituency is one of the seven parliamentary constituencies in New Delhi. It includes parts of South Delhi, South East Delhi, and South West Delhi districts.
In the 2019 elections, South Delhi saw a voter turnout of 58.68%.BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri won with a margin of 367,043 votes, securing 687,014 votes in total. He defeated AAP candidate Raghav Chadha, who received 319,971 votes.
For the 2024 elections, the BJP has nominated Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, who is 71 years old. He will face AAP candidate Sahiram Pehalwan, aged 64, who is supported by the Congress. Ramvir Singh Bidhuri was the only BJP candidate to win among the ten assembly segments that make up the South Delhi Lok Sabha seat.
Sahiram Pehalwan represents the Tughlakabad constituency in the Delhi assembly, having won twice consecutively in 2015 and 2020 as an AAP candidate.
The major parties in Delhi include the BJP, which secured all seven Lok Sabha seats in the last elections, and the INDIA bloc parties AAP and Congress, which are contesting in alliance.
