NEW DELHI: This Saturday, Delhi is likely to be voting under the hottest conditions ever for a Lok Sabha in the capital. Temperatures may touch 46 degrees Celsius on that day, as per IMD’s forecast for Safdarjung and Palam, which means heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are likely across the capital.

TOI looked at LS polling day temperatures in the capital since 1977 and found that the hottest election day so far was in 2004, when Delhi voted on May 10 when the maximum temperature at the city’s base station of Safdarjung was 41.4 degrees C, as per weather archive website Tutiempo.
