For the first time, a Gujarati has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the famous 150-year-old St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Canada. This Gujarati is businessman Hemant Shah. He has been contributing to Canada’s trade for over 5 decades.

Hemant Shah expressed his happiness on being appointed to the Board of Directors of the hospital. He said that this appointment is a matter of pride for me. This hospital is close to my heart as I had a new birth in this hospital 3 years ago. The doctor who performed the heart operation on me was from Mumbai, he was a Maharashtrian. This surgeon took the challenge and gave treatment. I stayed for treatment in this hospital for 30 days. During this time I saw what the hospital needed. I had seen the hospital management, the healthcare workers, what the doctor was facing, what the patient was facing. After recovery I started the process towards pay-back as a volunteer. As a volunteer I was drawing attention to reforms.

Talking about what to do after being appointed to the Board of Directors, he says, My focus will be on how to increase the intimacy of the patient, doctor and health care team. Keeping in mind what the hospital needs for new equipment and technology, we will drive donations for it. We have a large team of Indian doctors in Canada.
What are the future plans?
Talking about the future planning, Hemant Shah said that there are many specialist doctors in Gujarat, so they should tie up or collaborate with the Bone Face Hospital of Winnipeg, Canada and the Multi Specialty Hospital of India and Gujarat. Reciprocal exchange of technology and research that is here in Canada and also in India. I will focus on benefiting Motherland and also benefiting Karmabhoomi.
