Shahbaz Sharif recently visited China for the first time after becoming the Prime Minister of Pakistan. China is building an economic corridor from Pakistan to Xinjiang.
India has rejected China and Pakistan’s statements on Jammu and Kashmir. The Ministry of External Affairs said on Thursday (June 13) that Kashmir was, is and will remain an integral part of India. In fact, during a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on June 7, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif raised the issue of Kashmir.
In a joint statement issued after the meeting, China said it opposes India’s unilateral action in Jammu and Kashmir. There has been a dispute between India and Pakistan on this issue for a long time. The issue should be resolved peacefully under the UN Charter and United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.
Following this, the External Affairs Ministry on Thursday said that no country has the right to comment or interfere in the matter.

A bilateral meeting was held between Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese President Xi Jinping on June 7.
‘Economic Corridor work is not acceptable in an area that is part of India’
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs said that some of the work of the Pakistan Economic Corridor or CPEC is to be done in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). India opposes any work in this area.
In fact, during Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to China, Xi Jinping agreed in a meeting to ensure high quality development and timely completion of already ongoing projects under CPEC.
What is CPEC?
The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is an ambitious plan of Chinese President Xi Jinping. It was launched in 2013. In which an economic corridor is being built from Pakistan’s Gwadar to China’s Kashgar at a cost of 50 billion dollars (about 3 lakh crore rupees).
Through it, China will get access to the Arabian Sea. Under CPEC, China is working on road, port, railway and energy projects.
Our armies ready to face any challenge – Defense Minister
In Modi 3.0, the process of taking charge of Union ministers continues after they are sworn in. On Thursday (June 13), Rajnath Singh took charge as the Defense Minister for the second consecutive term. On this occasion he said that the armies are being equipped with modern weapons. We are ready to face every challenge.
This is why India has objections to CPEC
- The $50 billion CPEC will connect Gwadar Port in Pakistan’s Balochistan and Xinjiang in China.
- The CPEC also passes through the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, which is claimed by India.
- India believes that through CPEC, China is following a policy of expansionism and trying to encircle India.
