Airport News: Repeatedly refusing the air hostess’ offer in flight proved costly for a passenger. As soon as the flight landed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, this passenger was taken into custody. After this, a long process of interrogation took place, after which he was arrested.

Actually, this incident is of Air India flight AI 992 coming from Jeddah to Delhi. The air hostess first offered drinking water to a passenger travelling in this flight, which he refused. After this, the air hostess started giving one offer after another, which included the offer of tea and sometimes food.

But, every time this passenger refused to eat or drink anything. The air hostess observed that this passenger neither ate nor drank anything during the journey of about 5.30 hours. After which, the air hostess’s suspicion was now confirmed. The air hostess immediately informed the captain of the flight about this passenger.

The captain of the flight passed on the information received from the air hostess to the security agencies through air traffic control. As soon as the news was received, the Customs Preventive team swung into action. After the flight landed, the passenger was kept under surveillance. As soon as the passenger crossed the green challan of Customs, he was stopped.

During interrogation, the passenger admitted that he had brought gold paste from Jeddah and had stuffed it in his rectum. After this, the passenger took out four oval-shaped capsules filled with gold paste from his rectum one by one.

According to Joint Commissioner (Customs) Monika Yadav, about 1096.76 grams of gold has been recovered from four capsules recovered from the passenger’s rectum. The value of the recovered gold is estimated to be around Rs 69 lakh 16 thousand 169. This passenger has been arrested under various sections of the Customs Act.

It is worth mentioning that the flight crew is asked to keep an eye on such passengers who do not eat or drink anything during long flights. It is believed that such passengers have hidden something in their rectum which has been brought with the intention of smuggling.
