According to the report of local news portal Yonhap, the army did not shoot down the balloons because they were afraid that the material present in the balloon could spread all around and create a danger. Such balloons also fell in other parts of the capital Seoul, after which the authorities issued an alert. People were told not to touch it at all and immediately report it to the police station.
Thousands of balloons have arrived since May
South Korea’s Joint Chief of Staff said that the balloons are coming towards the south due to the wind blowing from the west. All of them are landing in North Gyeonggi Province, which is the most populous state of South Korea. That is why people are being alerted through loudspeakers. Let us tell you that both North and South Korea have been sending such balloons since the Korean War in the 1950s. Since May, thousands of balloons have been sent across the border by North Korea.
