New Delhi. On the seventh day of the Asian Games, India got its first gold medal in tennis. In the mixed doubles of tennis, the Indian pair of Rohan Bopanna and Rituja Bhonsle defeated the Taipei pair 2-6, 6-3, 10-4 in the final. India lost the first set but made a strong comeback after that and won the gold medal. This is India’s second medal in tennis. Rohan Bopanna has won the gold medal for the first time in the mixed doubles of the Asian Games.
Sarabjot has gifted the country a silver medal on the occasion of his birthday. After the medal ceremony, the organizers also played a song on the occasion of Sarabjot’s birthday. The Indian pair lost to China’s Bowen Zhang and Ranxin Jiang 16-14 in the gold medal match. The Sarabjot-Divya pair at one point took a 7-3 lead in the gold medal playoff, but the reigning world champion Zhang Bowen and Tokyo 2020 Olympic mixed team gold medalist Ranxin Jiang made a strong comeback in the men’s individual event.
This was India’s 19th medal in the shooting event of the Asian Games. This is India’s best performance in shooting in this event with 6 gold, 8 silver, and 5 bronze medals. India has won 19 medals in shooting, 5 in rowing, 1 in cricket, 3 in sailing, 2 in equestrian. Apart from this, it has also won 1 medal each in wushu, tennis, squash and athletics.
On Saturday itself, India and Pakistan will compete in two sports. In the evening, India and Pakistan will compete in men’s hockey. Before this, India and Pakistan will compete for the gold medal in the final of the men’s squash event.
19-year-old Preeti defeated the Kazakhstan boxer and secured a place in the semi-finals and at least a bronze medal. Preeti won the match by a margin of 4-1. With this, she also got a ticket to the Paris Olympics.

In the mixed team event of 10 meter air pistol, the Indian pair of Sarabjot Singh and Divya TS could not beat the Chinese shooters in the final and had to settle for the silver medal. Sarabjot needed 10.5 points in the last shot to equal China but he could only score 9.9 points and thus China won the gold medal by a margin of 16-14. This is India’s 8th silver medal in shooting.
